Gunther Tondeleir is a passionate and accomplished bowhunter having harvested numerous P&Y animals in Alberta. Upon graduation with a BSc. in Wildlife & Rangeland Management he ran a research camp in Alberta with Ducks Unlimited. Eventually his passion and work combined into a hunting camp - Wizard Lake Oufitting. Your hosts are Gunther & Zabrina. We live where we hunt and are very fortunate to live in an area rich in wildlife. We are a small operation specialized in archery hunts and take great pride in running a first class hunt.

Black Bear baiting is permitted in our area and we use a variety of bait. We hunt from large comfortable treestands or ground blinds at an average distance of 20 yds for bow stands and 50 yds for rifle stands. Historically this camp has 100% success on the first bear with an above average size of over 6 ft with some monsters exceeding 7 ft and weighing over 500 lbs!

Bowzone Whitetail Rut Hunts:

Hunt the famous Edmonton 'Bow-Only' Zone WMU 248. This zone has been closed to rifle hunters since 1974. The Bowzone is arguably the Best Whitetail Bow Hunting Zone in the world, recently known for the Zaft Buck- new P&Y archery world record typical whitetail 208 6/8" The Bowzone is our home, the Central Aspen Parkland Region of Alberta. The area contains prime whitetail habitat located between the northern forests and southern prairies; consisting of aspen woodlots for cover surrounded by large agricultural fields for feed. We hunt from our Wizard Lake Lodge one week a year with 4 hunters on prime private whitetail property. Book Early!

Rifle Whitetail Hunters, we offer peak of the rut Alberta Whitetail hunting in Bowzone bordering units. We hunt from ground blinds to heated tower stands depending on hunt conditions and the hunter. In 2006 whitetail rilfe hunters were 100% successful and all harvested their personal best bucks. Whitetail bowhunters were 75% successfull highlited by Dan Zillner and Bill Prebola who each rattled in and arrowed a mature rut crazed Alberta Whitetail. The outlook for 2007 is excellent with mild winters increasing deer numbers.

The Canadian Moose population in Alberta's Parkland region is thriving. We have just acquired all outfitting rights for non-resident moose in our hunting area WMU 246. The area has only recently been opened to moose hunting and we have already arrowed 50+" bulls. The average bull moose in the area will be 40 to 60+" wide. We hunt the peak of the moose rut in Alberta- late September to Early October. At this time bulls are extremely responsive to cow calls. We hunt using an aggressive calling method and hunters often find themselves in front of a charging bull moose, we do have the option to treestand hunt as well.
