Our trips are a FULL 7 days fishing.
Probably the best Pike fishing in all of Canada. Each year during our nine or ten week season our small number of guests (100 to 120) catch between 500 and 700 Pike and Lake Trout over 20lbs. Pike over 30 to 35lbs are caught on average most weeks! Since Lac La Martre Lodge has been tracking the big fish (over 20lbs) for the last four seasons the number of big fish per person has been getting better and better! Most years our big pike will be 34 or 35lbs, and lake trout 35 to 40lbs will be caught in our shallow lake. We have owned Lac La Martre Lodge for about 8 yrs. Now. Comfortable cabins, restaurant quality food, a super staff (many who have started with us), and lots of really big fish help us achieve a 75% repeat base for our customers.
Lac La Martre Fishing Lodge is not a five star location… no fireplaces, or floor to ceiling windows. We have warm, dry and comfortable cabins, hot showers and coffee, and cold beer. We have arguably the best combo Pike and Lake trout fishing anywhere. Our lodge is small, with only 16 guests each week for just a ten week season. We are also owner run and operated, shaking your hand when you get off the float plane, and saying thanks for being here at weeks end. Many, many of our guests will catch the biggest fish of their lives during their stay with us. We will work hard to make all aspects of your trip just a bit better than we told you it would be.
With over 15 years experience as a lodge owner, my wife and I still get excited as we witness guests reaction to catching so many large fish on a daily basis. Lac La Martre Fishing Lodge is truly an adventure worth visiting.
Lac La Martre Lodge is located in the Northwest Territories of Canada, 125 miles northwest of Yellowknife. The lake is nearly 1,000 sq. miles of cold clear water, with countless bays and islands. The Lodge itself is located on an island in the middle of the lake and is only accessible by float plane. The camp
consists of 7 guest cabins, Main Lodge/Dining Room, and Central Shower House. Three of our cabins sleep 6 and the other four sleep 4. The season is limited to 10 weeks, from the end of June through the first week of September. We pride ourselves in personal service, taking only 16 to 18 guests each week. This means lots of elbow room, but the limited space does book up well in advance.
The lake has Northern Pike, Lake Trout and Arctic Grayling. While we get more pike fishermen early in the season and more Trout fishermen later in the season, any of the 10 weeks we are open will give you a good chance at a 20lb fish of either species. We track the fish caught each year in our lake and can say that 20lb Northern Pike and Lake Trout are almost a daily occurrence. 25lb fish are not uncommon for the week and a number of 30lb fish are not uncommon for our season. There are NO FLY OUTS. All the fish caught are from our lake. The lake is strictly catch and release and we ask that you use barbless hooks and at least 20lb test line. Lake Trout are caught by either casting or trolling in open water. Our lake is 65 feet at its deepest, and most of the open water is less than 30 feet never requiring down riggers etc. for Lake Trout. Pike are caught in the bays casting into weeds and sometimes even sight casting for them. Arctic Grayling is a day trip to the river on the south end of the lake.
Over the past several years Lac La Martre Lodge has treated guests to some of the finest Pike and Trout fishing available anywhere. We track the number of big fish (over 20lbs) caught weekly and for the season. Each year our guests have boated between 600 and 700 fish over 20lbs. Time and again our visitors say, "it's the best fishing I've ever had!" Whether you have dreamed of trophy fish for years, or are booking the "best" first, call us for more information or to reserve your spot.
