This territory is one of the first feeding areas that the geese and ducks encounter on their fall migration. Many of these birds are seeing decoys for the first time. In addition there are many nesting birds in the area which help to decoy migrating birds. Once established in the area they normally stay until mid October or later depending on the weather.

The morning hunt normally involves a 20 to 40 minute drive to the field to be hunted on a particular day. Upon arrival the guide will set up the blinds and arrange the decoy spread. Ducks will normally begin landing amongst the decoys before legal shooting time commences. The geese are somewhat tardy and don't usually show up until legal shooting time has begun. For the majority of the season the hunting of geese is only allowed from 1/2 hour before sunrise until 12 noon of each day excluding Sunday. Therefore we usually set up for a goose hunt every morning. Duck hunting is also best in the morning, but there are usually many good opportunities to take ducks during the morning goose hunt. The afternoon hunt is primarily for ducks with some opportunities to hunt sharptail grouse and Hungarian partridge when they are in a reasonable adundance to offer a decent shoot. When ducks are not decoying to field settings, pothole hunting over floaters is our next choice. Waders are an asset. To ensure a quality experience for all of our hunters, hunting parties are restricted to 6 hunters and their guide.
