Aylmer Lake is 80 miles long and 40 miles wide and is yet to be explored. In the first season (1999) a 20 - 30lb. Lake Trout was common with the biggest being 40 lb. We are sure to see bigger fish than this. Artic Grayling is the best in the world, with the average being 21 inches and the record on in 1999 was 25 inches.
Aylmer Lake Lodge is located 227 air miles northeast of Yellowknife. The lodge is situated in Rocknest Bay near the narrows between Aylmer and Clinton Colden Lake. An ideal situation for the sportsman who wants to fish two different lakes. Aylmer Lake is connected to Clinton Colden Lake by a large river system and is close enough that both lakes could be considered one large body of water. Aylmer and Clinton Colden are approximately 80 miles long with areas up to 40 miles wide with countless Bays and Islands. The Lockhart River system flows through Aylmer to Clinton Colden continuing on until it reaches Great Slave. Numerous rivers feed into Aylmer Lake. The vastness of waterways is hard to imagine.
Whether you are there in the summer when the wild flowers abound or the fall when the hills are covered in the fantastic oranges, reds and golds of the of the Autumn colors. You will never forget the breathtaking beauty of the barrens at Aylmer Lake Lodge. The water is so clear, that from 15ft. Below the surface you can watch Lake trout that will surely stress your fishing tackle. Few people have had the opportunity to fish Aylmer Lake. Last year only 40 anglers had the opportunity and they barely scratched the surface of this pristine water with countless areas yet to be explored. Those big trout are waiting for your lure to be thrown.
Alan and Kathy Rebane owners and managers of Aylmer Lake Lodge would like to assure you that your trip will be an experience of a lifetime. We offer you a first class trip with managers who have 14 years experience in the tourism business.
